Summary
References Knox's letter of 16 February. Notes the letter enclosed for Mrs. Flucker was delivered. Asks that the letter enclosed for William Bingham be delivered (not included here). Anxiously awaits hearing that the business with Madame de Leval is concluded. Believes her demands were unreasonable and should not be complied with. Tells him She certainly has no funds nor resources - remember what I wrote you sometime since, which I recd from our friend in Europe. Reports the Winslows, Samuel Waldo, and Mr. Erving are in Boston awaiting an answer to their letter. Hopes Knox will accede to their terms. Saw the treasurer about the taxes. Says the land must be sold to pay for them, and the treasurer has given his orders accordingly. The Winslows say the tax is unjust and that nothing will come of it. They have also petitioned for a new trial over the Cooper claim. States he drew on Knox at 10 days sight for 141 dollars.
