Summary
Romantic novelist Anna Bray (1790-1883) was born in Newington, Surrey to parents John Kempe, landlord and bullion porter, and mother, Ann Arrow, into a middle class family. Bray's autobiography records her family childhood and friendships with Romantic-era writers and artists, from the 1790s to 1843.
