Summary
Tribute exhibition on the 100th years birth anniversary of Hilda López (Uruguay 1922-1996), whose works in ink and mixed media on canvas, paper and wood, makes her one of the great Uruguayan artists. It was upon encountering abstraction that her pictorial language became strong and solid. Her pictorial production, marked by large planes that represent vast spaces, dark interiors and urban scenes, express her strong personality and commitment to social activism (founder of the Communist Party) and her feelings towards the dark historical moments of the dictatorship in Uruguay. Now "a much more ambitious exhibition is presented with a set of works that covers the most outstanding periods of her career as a painter; considered one of the icons of Informalism in Uruguay." --translated from Page 6.
