Summary
Gen. Mike Hayden, director of the NSA (National Security Agency), the largest espionage agency in the country, claims that the agency is not keeping pace with developments in global telecommunications and that the gap has put the U.S. in danger from terrorists, including Osama bin Laden, who have at their disposal the latest in sophisticated equipment. Includes an interview with Phil Zimmerman, whose program, Pretty Good Privacy, which uses encryption to makes messages unreadable, was intended to protect ordinary citizens from government surveillance.
