Summary
Fictional account of Lenin's time in Poland before the 1917 revolution. During Lenin's imprisonment in Austria, and while he struggles with the developments of the First World War and the repercussions it will have for workers and capitalists, he recollects his time in Poland. The account focuses on Lenin's stay in Poronin with his wife, mother-in-law, and their maid Oulka. It depicts his working habits and his love of walking in the mountains, as well as his relationship with Oulka whom he considers to be like a daughter. Also includes the story of Oulka's love affair with Polish shepherd Andrzej, who leaves to fight in the war. English version of the film by S. P. S. (Société Parisienne de Sonorisation). Director Yutkevich won the award for Best Director at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival.
