From the Colton Storm catalogue: "An affidavit reporting conversations with William Ely regarding Aaron Burr's plans to separate the Western Territories from the United States. The conversations involved General William Eaton, James Wilkinson, and a number of other associates of Burr. Following Granger's affidavit there is a certificate (in Granger's hand) signed by Matthew Thompson in which he states that the account of the conversation is reported correctly. This is dated October 15, 1806, and is followed by a confirmatory statement written and signed by William Eaton dated October 16.The fourth page carries a further statement by Gideon Granger, signed, dated October 16, 1806, containing further information about Eaton's attempts to inform the Presidarnt of Burr's plans. It is this statement particularly to which Eaton referred in his note."
