The Fisk Expedition, commanded by Capt. James Liberty Fisk, with Samuel Bond as secretary, was authorized by Congress in 1862 to provide an escort for emigrant trains going westward through Indian country.
Summary
A full and detailed account of the expedition, including the trip home by part of the escort by way of San Francisco, and Panama to New York by steamer.
