Summary
Two letters from José Lazaro Benabides, subprefect of Rio Grande, to the Justice of the Peace of San Fernando concerning enemy movements along the border with Texas. The first letter, dated May 24, 1840, warns of the enemies from Bejar, assures the Justices that Benabides will be vigilant, and suggests that passports be issued to all who wish to travel in the region. In the second letter, dated November 8, 1840, Benabides requests that help be sent by the Army of the North against the enemies assembling in Laredo.
