Videotape testimony of Lea P., who was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1923. She recalls attending a Jewish school; active participation in Hashomer Hatzair; speaking Judeo-Spanish at home; cordial relations with non-Jews; joining SKOJ, the communist youth movement; her sister's death in childbirth; German invasion; one brother joining the partisans (he was killed); her other brother's capture as a POW (he survived); German invasion; assistance from non-Jewish neighbors; her father's incarceration in Topovske Šupe; visiting him until his "disappearance"; forced labor; learning she was wanted by the police; hiding with non-Jewish SKOJ members; obtaining false papers from a Macedonian friend; moving several times to avoid capture; interrogation once by the police (her false papers were good); two gendarmes who previously knew her not betraying her; marrying a Serbian in church for protection; learning her mother had been killed; the births of three children after the war; divorce; remarriage; and her fourth child's birth. Ms. P. discusses many relatives, friends, and colleagues - Jews and non-Jews - who perished. She shows photographs.
