"The present catalogue is based on the arrangement of the incunabula in the British Museum planned and in great part carried out by the late Robert Proctor, and completed from his notes afer his death. The arrangement itself was founded on the unofficial 'Index to the early printed books in the British Museum, with notes of those in the Bodleian Library', published by Proctor in 1898".--Introd.
