Videotape testimony of Ernestine T., who was born in Kraków, Poland, in 1898. She describes her comfortable prewar life, including her childhood in a large, assimilated family followed by a happy marriage and two children. Mrs. T. relates how, in German-occupied Poland, her family, with the aid of false papers and Christian friends, hid in numerous places in the area surrounding Kraków. She tells how, after the arrest of her fifteen-year-old son, who was sent to a concentration camp (where he died) and of her husband (whom she never saw again), she and her daughter fled to Vienna, where, with false papers, they lived as Polish non-Jews. Other topics include Mrs. T.'s life in postwar Vienna; her return to Kraków after the war; emigration to the United States and life there; and her attitude toward her Jewishness.
