Holograph.
Symphony, no. 1, D major. Title inside front cover, followed by the titles of the movements, the whole of which has been crossed out, apparently by the composer, who discarded the "program" of the Symphony when it was published in 1899. Full score of the symphony, containing the "Blumine" movement, dropped after the Symphony's premiere in 1889 and not discovered again until this manuscript came to light in 1966. It preceeds the published version, and there are differences in orchestration between the two. "Blumine" is the rejected Andante movement of the first symphony. This manuscript likely prepared for the 1893 Hamburg performance of the Symphony, the last time the Blumine movement was included, with note "Renovatum 16. August 1893" at end of movement. Final page of the score dated "19 Januar 1893."
