Front endpaper: the names or signatures of Thomas Martin, Martin Joseph Routh, Noel Digby, Captain Kenelm Somerville R.N., the note "The Gift of Mrs. Ann Bridges 1755. Altho in right it was mine before having a General deed of Sale from the late Mr. John Bryars Clerk who was the owner of it, etc.," and the note "The Gift of Noel Digby Rector of Brixton, I. Wight. March 22, 1830."
Front flyleaf inscription: "John Bridges; 21st. December 1751."
Inscription on verso of front flyleaf: "Thomas Martin."
Note on verso of title page claims the text was "supposed to be written by one of the Lord Digby's family, as I was told by my Aunt Elizabeth Daughter of Sir Charles Holt, of Warwickshire, who made me the present of it, as a Curiosity belonging to that noble Family." A second note by Thomas Martin indicates this is John Bryars' handwriting.
Tipped in: two keys at end of text, in different hands, of characters' names and the historical personages to whom they correspond.

Summary
Manuscript on paper, in a single Italic hand, of a political allegory written as a continuation of Sidney's Arcadia. Prefaced by an address to the reader which explains the author's motives for writing this sequel to Sidney's work, as well as his reasons for remaining anonymous. The manuscript consists of four chapters, numbered VI-IX, containing an allegorized history of England from some time before the accession of Elizabeth I to the English Civil War of 1649.
