Summary
Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of Parliamentary precedents and rules of operation up to King James I. The manuscript is divided into sections with titles such as "The Commencement, Prorogration, & dissolution of severall Parliaments from Edward 6th Time," "The Election of Knights and Burgesses by what writt and warrant," "What shall be a good Cause to refuse or remove A Knight and what not," "Members of the house punished by the house for what Cause," and "The Clarke his place & Duty." Followed by an address by the House of Commons to King James I, ca. 1604, concerning "misinformation" delivered to the King that "we hold not our Priviledges of right but of grace only...that we are noo Court of Record...and lastly that the examination of the retorne of writts for Knights and Burgesses is without our compasse," which misinformation "we...doe expressly protest as being derogatory in the highest degree."
