Note on flyleaf in another secretary hand, dated 1690: I sent this Book to Mr. Brown but he shamefully abused it & tore out severall presedents in the middle of it.
Signature inside book in same hand as text: Samuel Hemingway Booke: Script apud Ebore 25th Julii 1683.
Signatures on flyleaf: Samuel Hemingavius and Chr. B. Shall.
Pasted on flyleaf: 673.
Pen trials, short hand, and names written on back flyleaves.
Flyleaves have been pasted over colored patterned paper.
Binding: medieval parchment waste. Faded Latin is written on the front and back covers; inside the covers is written a hymn in Latin, accompanied by medieval musical notation.

Summary
Manuscript, in a single court hand, of a collection of warrants, orders, certificates, and other sample legal documents. The volume includes such documents as A discharge for bearing arms upon a certificate; A warrant for one for getting a child; A warrant to distrain for selling ale and beer without license; A warrant to search for stolen goods; A warrant to bring persons in to be bound to give in evidence against a felon; Three manner of ways of executing a deed of absolute grant bargain, sale and release; A petition for a cottager; and A mittimus for Quakers. One page of the manuscript contains a medicinal recipe, written upside down.
