Summary
Manuscript, in a single hand with numerous corrections, of a collection of about 40 sentimental or light poems, almost all addressed to female acquaintances. Many are sonnets, including one titled Sonnet to Miss **** on hearing her sing 'I'd mourn the hopes that leave me' from Moores melodies; Sonnet on the death of the Princess Charlotte; and For Miss C - Blackrock Ball to take place on Monday 25 August 1817. Other poem titles include The progress of mineralogy address'd to Miss J F; Lines to the memory of a friend who fell in the battle of Waterloo aged 18 years; and In imitation of Lord Byron for an album. The collection also includes one prose piece, a travel narrative titled An account of a visit to Loghort Castle Co. Cork.
