Summary
Manuscripts, in a single hand, consisting of letters which address the daily business of the Chief Secretary's office in Ireland. The contents include a discussion concerning Lord Conyngham's request, in consideration of his family's services to the crown, "three thousand acres of Land from the Curragh of Kildare" and "a seat in the English Parliament." Another letter dated July 7, 1969, and labeled "most private," discusses Mr. Jackson's alarm at an "Alphabetical List of the House of Commons" having been made public; elsewhere, he writes, "In the utmost confidence I may tell you, that His Excellency has received two letters from General Burgoyne mentioning that you was shortly to go to Madrid, & thereupon offering his services to succeed you upon the vacancy."
