Summary
In Nazi-occupied Paris, a young accompanist gets a job with a famed singer. As her husband, a businessman collaborating with the Nazis, wrestles with his conscience, she becomes obsessed with the singer, taking on the role of maid as well as accompanist, living life vicariously through her triumphs and affairs.
