The poetical epistle is signed: C. Philadelphia, 13th May, 1799. Attributed to William Cliffton by Evans and Gaines.
Dedicated to John Hoppner, Esq. R.A.
Reissue, with cancel title page and added preface, of sheets of the edition printed at Philadelphia in 1799 (Evans 35546). Also issued, together with Gifford's 'Epistle to Peter Pindar' (Evans 37514) as the Works of William Gifford (Evans 37515). Some copies have half-title: Works of William Gifford, Esquire. Vol. I.
