The records contain correspondence arranged by the name of the chief correspondent. These correspondents include Fred Braun, treasurer of the Board of Foreign Missions (BFM) of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Iowa and Other States (Iowa Synod); George Fritschel, secretary of the BFM; F. Otto Thiele, Director of the Lutheran Mission New Guinea when the Iowa Synod and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Australia were cooperatively administering the work; and Johann Flierl, the Neuendettelsau missionary who started the New Guinea work in 1886.
Thiele's correspondence is further divided by the name of the chief recipient. These include, in addition to officers Braun and Fritschel, Richard Taeuber, Executive Secretary of the New Guinea work of the Board of Foreign Missions, and F.
