Prospectus for the association established by John Banvard probably to provide financial support for Banvard's Museum, which opened June 17, 1867, at Broadway and 30th St., New York. Although it contained rooms for a collection of curiosities and a lecture hall with a capacity of 2000, it operated primarily as a theater, until closing in April 1868. Cf. Odell, G.D.C. Annals of the New York stage, v. 8, p. 216, etc.
