Marion Anderson, well-known singer, was born February 27, 1902, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Ms. Anderson was the subject of a Special Inquiry investigation prior to her possible appointment by the President of the United States to a position at the Department of State. Marion Anderson toured the United States and Europe and was awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Music from Howard University, Temple University and Smith College.
