Summary
129 letters from Czesław Miłosz (and his wife Janina) to Zygmunt Hertz (and his wife Zofia) dated 1960 to 1979, when Miłosz was a professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of California, Berkeley. While the letters discuss Polish literature in Poland and abroad and publications in Kultura, they are also often personal in nature. The letters reflect the support Hertz provided to Miłosz during his first years in the United States.
