"The following tables comprise Part II of the American practical navigator, by the late Nathaniel Bowditch, LL. D., as revised in 1880, 1903, 1914, 1923, and 1924 under the Hydrographic office, Bureau of navigation, Navy department. In the present edition, former tables 12, Reduction of quantities from nautical almanac; 13, Change of sun's right ascension; 28A, 28B, 28C, and 28D, Latitude by polaris; 37, Logarithms for equal altitude sights; and 37A, Equation of equal altitudes near noon, have been omitted. For the former table 7, Conversion of arc and time, has been substituted. The designating numbers of the tables retained from former editions remain as heretofore."-Notice, p. 429.
