Notes
Lillian Goldman Law Library copy has a few pencil annotations on the "Dramatis Personae" including Sir Henry Blackwood. This would be Capt. Sir Henry Martin Blackwood, RN, 2nd Bart (1801-1851). He was probably living at Weymouth in 1836 as his wife gave birth to a daughter there. It is likely that Blackwood cooperated with his friend or friends writing the play. It was also a topical subject as the borough of Weymouth was hold of the parliamentary seat was on a knife-edge Conservatives only held the seat by three votes in the 1841 election.
