Summary
"Our collaboration on this book is rather recent despite the fact that we have worked together for many years. John Hall began to write it a few years ago but then set it aside due to other commitments. One of these commitments was a project that he and John Campbell started thanks to their personal and professional relationships in Denmark. Many years ago they began to investigate how that small state managed to do so well in a world of increasing political and economic globalization. The former was sure that Danish success stemmed in large measure from its cultural homogeneity and strong sense of national identity. The latter was convinced that it had more to do with the institutional arrangement of its political economy. As it turned out, we were both right. But this led us to wonder how far we could generalize our thoughts to explain the fate of other states"-- Provided by publisher.
